Krispy Kreme HK: RIP

Once Upon a time in HK...there was a doughnut

Just go back from HK. Whilst there, walked past the site of Krispy Kreme in Soho.

The reason for the closure of KK in HK has been linked to the economic crisis and some of my friends in HK said it was because banks baulked at offering financing and loans. However, I have also heard the franchise owners of Krispy Kreme in HK were experienced F&B businessmen (and one of their other restaurants in Soho, Mid-Levels is still open) so perhaps it is not a case of the tap being turned off as some smart businessmen looking at it from the standpoint of capital preservation?

But in any case, sigh. I missed it. RIP KK HK.
